Chiropractic   Back to top
Chiropractic care focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on your general health. It is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including as well as back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

Your physician may recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as provide you with individualized nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.  The most common procedure performed by chiropractors is known as "spinal manipulation".
The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.

Family Medicine  Back to top
The conventional medical approach, depending on the severity of the condition, may require prescribing various medications in order to treat the ailment. We monitor your progress on a regular basis. It is also common for physical therapy and rehab to be ordered by the M.D. or D.O. in order to treat an ailment.

Every decision you make about your health care is an important one -- including the decision of whether or not to use acupuncture.

Acupuncture works for many types of ailments. It promotes natural healing. It supports your physical and emotional health, can decrease or eliminate pain of various types, and generally improves one's emotional and physical health. It is a safe effective way to treat a variety of health problems, such as:

  • Menstrual cramps
  •  Stroke Rehabiliation
  • Cosmetic Acupuncture -  (Mei Zen Technique utilized)
  • Addictions
  • Migraines
  • Chronic Constipation
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Low back pain
  • Asthma
  • Pain relief
  • Nausea
  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Sinusitis
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Shoulder Bursitis

The needles used are sterile and very fine, like a human hair. Most people do not feel the needles, or at most, there may be a tiny pinch that last less than a second. The needles are only used once and then are disposed of. Many people feel very relaxed during and after the treatment, while others are energized.

Nutrition  Back to top
Nutrition is a way of using food and supplements to encourage the body's ability to naturally heal itself. It does this by detoxifying the body; correcting vitamin and mineral deficiencies; restoring healthy digestion; developing a positive attitude.

On your first visit to the office, we will ask you questions about your medical history, dietary choices, family history, menstrual history, digestion, energy levels and exercise habits. This will assist your physician in recognizing any nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, toxic overload, or general nutritional concerns.

In addition, we may advise you to take a hair analysis, hormone testing, food allergy tests, heavy metal screening, etc. in order to get a better understanding of your current health status. Specific foods will be recommended that you can eat, while other foods may be suggested to avoid. A dietary plan suited to your needs will be recommended along with vitamins and supplements to encourage your body to heal itself.

Massage  Back to top
Massage is one for the oldest healing arts dating back 3,000 years. It is beneficial for many chronic conditions such as:

  • Low back and neck pain
  • Arthritis
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches/migraines
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Shoulder pain
  • Muscle strains/sprains
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Lymph edema
  • Post surgical rehab

It improves circulation by bringing oxygen and other nutrients to the "trigger points" in tight, tired muscles and allows them to "breath" again. Massage therapy effectively lowers the levels of cortical, a stress hormone that is produced on a daily basis with our busy lifestyles. Another beneficial effect of getting regular massage therapy treatments is an improved immune system which helps the patient fight off infection better.
